A fire pump is a critical component of a fire sprinkler system’s water supply. When the pressure in the sprinkler system risers and standpipes drops below a certain threshold, the fire pump activates to provide water flow at a higher pressure.
Powered by either an electric motor or diesel engine, fire pumps come in four main types: horizontal split case fire pumps, end suction fire pumps, vertical in-line fire pumps, and vertical turbine fire pumps. These are centrifugal pumps known for their high efficiency in transferring water across a wide range of flow and pressure. Additionally, a jockey pump, a small multistage centrifugal pump, is connected to a branch of the fire pipeline to maintain the system pressure at a high level.
Active MEP supplies UL Listed / FM Approved fire pumps and CE approved jockey pumps.
